After 10 years of marriage today is the first time I am alone on our Anniversary. It has been 9 months since He passed away due to cancer. I remember the smell of roses he used to send me every year with a note “My love for you is eternal”.
We never felt absence of kids as we had each other, but now I feel there is emptiness in my heart. He was a freelance worker and so was I. Even though we were on our computer screens we were always together at home. The house was alive with his jokes and our laughter. Now the silence in the house eats me up.
I was completely lost in our past when I heard the doorbell and there was bunch of red roses for me with the note “My Love for you eternal” my eyes filled with tears and anger at the same time. I picked up the call and started shouting at the florist. The florist calms me down and says “Ma’am before your husband passed away he prepaid us to deliver you these roses every year on this date”. I hung up the phone and broke into tears.
